This photograph of Elbert Anson Hammett was probably taken at his place of business. According to Polk's City Directory of Lincoln, 1914, Elbert A. Hammett and Vinton S. Howe owned Central Auto Repair and Machine Works located at 317 S 11th Street. See also "Central Auto Repair and Machine Works, completed car" for an image of the car put together. According to his granddaughter, Hammett built this car and later invented other things, too.
