The Convent of the Society of the Holy Child Jesus sits on a large lawn with trees and shrubs at 1424 U Street. The four-story building has a large staircase leading to the front doors on the second level, balconies on each side of the house, and a cross on top of a two-story cupola.
Purchased by Lincoln's first millionaire John Fitzgerald, the building was given for use as the Convent. At its peak, twelve teachers and thirty-five students used the building.
