View of the capitol grounds and the city of Lincoln looking to the northwest from a high vantage point in the State Capitol building. The First Baptist Church sits on the northwest corner of S. 14th and K Streets, and across the street, on the northeast corner, is The Cathedral. Other houses, businesses, and churches sit on tree-lined streets.
The First Baptist Church building at S. 14th and K Streets was dedicated in June 1888. This building was torn down in the summer of 1964 and the current sanctuary was dedicated September 12, 1965. The Cathedral's building, completed in 1899, still stands but is now known as St. Mary's Catholic Church.
