Several men stand on the partially constructed roof of a large brick building in this 9 1/2" x 7 1/2" black and white photograph. The building has many large planks of wood covering an opening on one end. A smaller building, with wooden siding and a sign that reads "Photograph Gallery" stands in front of the brick building, along with a large tree. Trees and other buildings are visible in the background.
This building stood at the northeast corner of Maine and Maple Streets. It also served as the Wickert and Nodding general store. In 1920, Carl Nuebel bought the building and opened a movie theater. The theater was closed during the Great Depression, but opened again and operated until 1943. After that, the building was donated for use as the Rebekah Lodge.
