Black and white postcard (14 x 8 cm.) with an exterior view of the railway station in La Platte, Nebraska. Three people are sitting outside of the building. There is a board walk surrounding the building.
The town of La Platte, Sarpy County, Nebraska, was established in 1870. Prior to that, the town of Larimer Mills had occupied some of the same territory that La Platte occupied at the time of its founding, but Larimer Mills was one of a string of unsuccessful towns in the area. La Platte broke the losing streak for a while, but went out of existence in 1954. Source: Sarpy County Centennial Celebration: The Story of Our First Century: 'Arrows to Airpower'.
