The oldest banking institution in Nebraska, the United States National Bank was the successor of a land agency opened in 1855 by Joseph H. Millard & Company. The name was changed to United States National Bank on October 2, 1883. This is the third building to house the United States National Bank. It first located on this corner in 1905 in this building which was later replaced by their fourth building in 1915 and was razed in the 1990s for a parking garage.
