This is a scene in Valley, Nebraska, whose post office was established January 29, 1869. In 1867, John Sanders named this town Platte Sanders after himself. Later the name was changed to Platte Valley. When incorporated, Platte was accidentally omitted, and the town became Valley, although it is still located in Platte Valley precinct. Railway officials called this place Valley Station and the first station on the Union Pacific Railroad in the Platte Valley; later the name was shortened to Valley. Source: Perkey, Elton A.
