The five-story brick and cut stone building in this 5-3/8" x 3-3/8" photographic black-and-white postcard stood at the southeast corner of 13th and N Streets. Most of the west facing windows are adorned by retractable awnings. Two benches sit on the N Street sidewalk. Telephone/electric poles, a street lamp, and a mail box stand at the corner.
Built in 1902 at a cost of about $60,000, the 50 x 142 foot Fraternity Building (also known as the Royal Highlander Fraternity Building) was designed by James Henry Craddock. It was owned by Albert O. Faulkner and William E. Sharp. Several insurance companies, doctors, and dentists, as well as the Lincoln Commercial Club, were among its first tenants. The building was torn down in the late 1920s and the current Gothic-style fifteen-story Sharp Building constructed in its place in 1928.
