This 5-3/8" x 3-1/2" colorized postcard shows businesses and power poles lining the south side of 4th Street west of the intersection with E Street and a few on the west side of D Street at right. The closest building at left is Harbine Bank. Numerous pedestrians can be seen on the cement sidewalks, and several horse-drawn vehicles are on the dirt streets.
Most of the buildings seen on 4th Street in this image are still being used for businesses and are listed on the National Register of Historic Places as part of the Fairbury Commercial Historic District. The bank building was constructed in 1904 in the Neo-Classical Revival style. The dirt streets were paved with brick in 1916.
