The 5-3/8" x 3-1/2" black-and-white postcard shows a rock formation in the distance to the south with arid land, arroyos, and a trail in between. Close at either side are Ponderosa pine trees and a portion of bluff in which millions of years of geological strata can be seen.
Dome Rock is a rock pillar formed of volcanic ash, sandstone, and limestone. It sits at the south end of Scotts Bluff National Monument and is southwest of the town of Scottsbluff and west of the south end of the town of Gering.
