The staircase on the front the large four-story building in this 6-1/2" x 4" black and white plate leads to a second level covered porch entry. The building has a stone foundation and a turret at the side. Trees line the sidewalk which runs under the front porch.

Historical Notes
With some overcrowding, the facility as of 1916 could hold 1,150 patients and, as of November 30, 1916, was at capacity with 746 male and 404 female patients. The superintendent asked for funds to build more housing as "We have had to discourage commitment of many persons who should be receiving hospital care.
