Description
Three large three-story brick buildings are in this 6-1/2" x 4" black and white plate. Roads and sidewalks leading up to the buildings with a park area across from the buildings.

Historical Notes
On December 1, 1912, there were 1072 patients: 690 males and 381 females. On November 30, 1914, there were 1127 patients: 722 males and 405 females. The institution was established by the legislature in 1887 as the Chronic Insane Asylum, but was generally known as the Incurable Insane Asylum. By 1908, the chronic/incurable designation had been dropped as medical opinion changed. Today this institution exists as the Hastings Regional Center.
