This 6-1/2" x 4-1/2" black and white photograph shows a one-story brick building. The building has small windows on the side and large windows in the front. There is a sign on the front that reads "Apex Cleaning & Dyeing Co." On the side of the building, there is a sign that reads "One Day Service" and "Furs, Hats, Ties, Drapes, Altering, Repairing" is painted on the wall. There are two billboards on the roof of the building, with lights overhanging them. A dirt road runs in front of the building, with a sidewalk on either side of it. "Apex Cleaning & Dyeing Co." is written on the photograph.
Apex Cleaning built its main office and plant at 123 S. 23rd Street, Lincoln, in 1923. George Berlinghof was identified on the building permit application as the architect for the project, but the drawing filed with the permit was signed instead by architect Jesse B. Miller, without mention of Berlinghof. Miller and Berlinghof are not known to have worked together so in this case, Miller's name of the drawing must take precedence. P. M. Plamondon was president of the Apex Cleaning & Dyeing Co., which in addition to this main plant had an "Uptown Office" at 326 S. 13th (downtown, in current terminology), a south office at 1520 S. 17th and a north office at 1427 N. 33rd (Vine St.). The S. 23rd St. building looks diminutive in its photograph, until you notice the height of the facade relative to the two doorways, showing the single-story building to be almost two stories in height.
