Early Sidney, Nebraska, Union Pacific rail yard and roundhouse
Description
A steam engine puffing smoke sits on a set of tracks to the right in this 5-1/2" x 3-1/2" black and white postcard. Several engines (one of them marked U.P. 117) sit in the roundhouse next to the water towers. Printed on the postcard is Hall Photo, Sidney, Neb.
The railroads brought homesteaders to Cheyenne County filling the railcars with livestock, machinery, household goods and family. They also brought building supplies for the growing town.
