A 2"x3" acetate negative, 1977 or 1978 copy of a photograph of the G.A. Falk store, known as "Popular Corner", in downtown, Brainard, Nebraska. The flat-roofed, corner brick building features two large windows with double entry doors centered between, canvas awning and roof-top pediment with "1893" painted on it. The building was built by G. A. Falk, b. ca. 1858, and later became the Bank of Brainard.

Historical Notes
Gustav A. Falk was born in Falkoping, Sweden, August 31, 1857. He immigrated to the United States with his family in 1865. He later worked for the Burlington Railroad in Omaha. He married Theresa Smersh, January 15, 1881, and they moved to Brainard in 1887 where he opened and ran a general merchandise store until his death in 1927. The store then became home of the Bank of Brainard.
