Historical Notes
Paul John Albright was born February 3, 1884, to John and Louisa Albright in Allentown, Pennsylvania. The family moved to Nebraska in 1886 and his father opened a jewelry store in downtown David City. He began working in his father's jewelry and music store at the age of ten. In 1901 and 1902 he attended the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston and later worked as a traveling salsman for his father. In 1908, he married Bertha Pearl Curry in David City. In 1912, he bought the jewelry business from his father. Paul was a member of many civic organizations and a 20-year member of the hospital board. Paul and Bertha had no children. Claude R. Frater was born in March 6, 1886, in Iowa to John James and Lillian Kennedy Frater. Claude's father owned a drug store in downtown David City. Claude moved to Ketchikan, Alaska, where he worked as a druggist.
