Notes
Date is uncertain: Upper left of photo has words "a pen class State Teachers College." Nebraska State Normal School at Kearney became Nebraska State Teachers College at Kearney in 1921. The back of the photo is annotated "Photo by Stryker" but Professor John A. Stryker, noted for his photography hobby, retired in 1919. This classroom, identically furnished and decorated, is shown in a photo in Dr. Philip S. Holmgren's Kearney State College, 1905-1980, on page 38, labeled "Professor W.B. Stryker's 1916 penmanship class." The instructor, according to the 1915 and 1917 Blue and Gold annuals was actually John A. Stryker. W.B. Stryker owned a florist's shop in downtown Kearney.
