Street view of High Victorian Gothic-style church on the northeast corner of S. 14th and K Streets. The multi-story brick church has two steeples, and a centered, large, round stained glass window. The photograph, taken from about a block away, shows street lamps between 14th Street and the sidewalk that runs along the State Capitol lawn.
St. Mary's Cathedral, formerly the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception (or The Cathedral) and now known as St. Mary's Catholic Church was built between 1888 and 1889. According to Polk's City Directory of Lincoln 1937 and the Polk's Lincoln City Directory 1951, the rector was Monsignor C.J. Riordan.
