The residence of Winifred Agnes Gallagher, the widow of Benjamin Gallagher, located at 513 S. 38th Street (38th and Jackson Streets) in Omaha, Nebraska, can be seen in this black and white lantern slide. The house is made of brick, with lighter-colored brick accents around the windows. A covered front porch and a covered patio or gazebo to the rear of the house are both visible. The house's lawn is raised above the level of the sidewalk and bordered by a brick wall. The trees in front of the house obscure the view of the upper story and roof.
Benjamin Gallagher was an Omaha businessman. Along with William A. Paxton, he owned the wholesale grocery firm of Paxton & Gallagher. Architect Thomas R. Kimball designed this house for Gallagher's widow, Winifred, and it was built from 1902 to 1904. Mrs. Gallagher lived in the house until her death in 1920. Source: Morton, Julius Sterling.
