Stage and orchestra in auditorium, State Penitentiary, Lincoln
Description
Men in white dress pants and shirts with dark ties sit on a stage holding their musical instruments in this 6-1/2" x 4" black and white plate. A short railing surrounds them and a backdrop with a mountain and water scene hangs behind them. The instruments include cello, viola, violins, trombone, French horn and other wind instruments.

Historical Notes
In the east cell house, an auditorium was built over the cells which had a stage, two dressing rooms, and scenery painted by inmates. The auditorium seated about 800 and was used for chapel services and movies as well as entertainment provided by inmates.
