Main building, Nebraska Soldiers' and Sailors' Home, Burkett
Description
This 6-1/2" x 4" black and white plate shows the front and right end of the Administration Building. The large three-story brick building is embellished with various roof treatments. A round, enclosed fire escape, painted a dark at the upper floors and light at the lower level has a ramp to an attic window. The power plant with its tall smokestack sits behind the Administration Building.

Historical Notes
The biennial report states: "The 'Main Building,' size 65 by 200 ft., 4 stories high, and containing 68 large rooms has been cleaned, painted and plastered where needed, and put in general good sanitary condition." (p.186) Other buildings at the Home included a farm cottage and other cottages, a main hospital, two convalescent hospitals, a church, barber shop, dairy barn, storage building and implement shed.
