This 3-3/4" x 5-3/4" black and white portrait photograph shows Bess Streeter as a child of about ten years old in a white dress with lace around the collar. Her hair is curled, crimped and pulled back from her face. The photograph paper is designed with the image of a sheet of paper with each end slightly rolled and decorated with leaves and berries set against a black background.
Aldrich was born Bessie Genervra Streeter in Cedar Falls, Iowa, on February 17, 1881. She married Charles S. Aldrich on September 24, 1907. The Aldriches moved to Elmwood, Nebraska, in 1909. Aldrich sold her first short story written in Elmwood in 1911 to "Ladies Home Journal" for $175. A widow since 1925, Aldrich had a house built next to her daughter Mary's house in Lincoln, Nebraska, and moved in August 8, 1948.
