Historical Notes
Walter Pool was born August 13, 1885, in Tipton, Iowa, and came to David City with his parents shortly after he was born. He grew up on the family farm in Reading Township, graduated from Union Hill rural school and attended York Business College. He married Nina Bemis February 5, 1908. Walter and Nina farmed with his parents until 1917, then purchased their own farm northeast of Rising City in Reading Township and raised five children. They were lifetime members of the Rising City Methodist Church and very active in civic and social organizations. Nina died in 1951 and Walter died in 1953.
