Historical Notes |
Ernest Bennison was born in Illinois in 1886 and moved to David City, Nebraska, with his parents, Sam and Lucy, in 1889. He graduated from David City High School in 1903 and attended the University of Nebraska College of Engineering. He was a World War I veteran and following WWI worked as an engineer in Grand Island, Nebraska, and St. Paul, Minnesota. He and his wife, Helen, raised two daughters. Ernest died December 25, 1971 and is buried in the David City Cemetery. Thornton Benjamen Manning was born in Nebraska, September 10, 1885, the son of Charles and Pauline Manning. His father was a merchant in David City. He married Anna Funk in David City, April 1910. Thornton and his parents moved to Morrill, Nebraska, where his father worked in a drug store and Thornton worked as a postal clerk for the U.S. Post Office. Thornton and Anna had one daughter, Catherine. Thornton worked in his father's drug store and later owned his own drugstore in Morrill. Matt Cram was born in David City, July 23, 1885, the son of Edwin and Hannah Cram. According to 1900 Census records, Matt’s father was a merchant in David City. He and his wife, Maude, lived in Texas and raised two daughters. Matt worked as a real estate agent. Matt died May 1982, in Dallas, Texas. |
