Historical Notes
William Spelts was born near Clarksville, Arkansas, November 20, 1849, to Joseph and Sarah Bays Spelts. He married Julia Ann Loor in 1875. They had seven children: Katie, Charles, Garfield, Harry, Nina, Logan and a baby that died in infancy. William came to Nebraska from Illinois and lived near Octavia for a while before moving to Ulysses, Nebraska, where he lived for 20 years. William worked as a grain buyer. Following the death of his wife, William moved to Colorado and lived with his son, Logan. William married Mrs. Carrie Stutzman of Bethany, Nebraska, October 4, 1926, and lived there until his death, February 27, 1927. He is buried in Township Cemetery, Ulysses, Nebraska.
