Historical Notes
Joseph and Vincent Rolenc were born to Frank and Marie Pavel Rolenc on their family farm near Appleton, in rural Butler County. Around 1900 the family moved to a farm south of Brainard then moved to David City in 1907, where the children attended St. Mary's School. Joseph graduated from David City High School in 1916 and was inducted into the U. S. Army in 1917 to serve for the remainder of World War I. He married Agnes on February 11, 1925. They farmed west of Brainard and raised four daughters. Joseph died January 22, 1972. Vincent never married; he farmed south of Brainard until his death December 4, 1980.
