Historical Notes
Charles was born in Saunders County, Nebraska. After serving in World War I, he went back to school to study business administration. In 1920, he began working at the Venango State Bank, Venango, Nebraska. In 1928, Charles and his brother, Louis, purchased the Bank of Brainard, where he worked until the bank was sold in 1968. Charles was active in local civic organizations and served as mayor of Brainard for 10 years. He died in 1994.
