A 2"x3" acetate negative, 1977 or 1978 copy of a photograph of Wright's Flour Mill building in Brainard, Nebraska taken prior to 1911. The three-story, wood-sided building, with two-story brick addition, storage shed and loading dock is bordered by a semi-circular, unpaved drive. Dark smoke is rising from the large, brick smokestack located in the rear of the buildings; a smaller smokestack is also visible.

Historical Notes
The first flour mill was erected by W. C. Norton in 1897 and was a large modern structure with the latest type of "rolling" machinery. It was destroyed by fire in 1905 and then rebuilt in 1906 by James Sypal and Mr. Matousek. In 1923, the business was purchased by Thomas and Howard Wright, who renamed it "Wright Flour Mill" and introduced Big Five Flour to the community. The Wright Mill was a thriving business for many years, closing in 1976.
