A 2"x3" acetate negative, 1977 or 1978 copy of a photograph of the Soukup & Petrzilka tavern in downtown Brainard, Nebraska, taken prior to 1911. The two-story brick building features a corner entrance, canvas awnings, painted signs on the windows, corner pediment with "1902" and a large sign advertising Storz Beer painted on the side. A boardwalk surrounds the building on two sides and projects over the unpaved streets at the corner. A white, wood-sided, building attached to the back of the tavern served as a dance hall. The tavern and dance hall were owned and operated by Anton Soukup, b. ca. 1845, and Frank Petrzilka, b. ca. 1868.
