A 2"x3" acetate negative, 1977 or 1978 copy of a photograph of the Opera House block in downtown, Brainard, Nebraska, taken prior to 1911. The white, wood-sided corner building features a roof-top pediment with the name "John Dus" and two large windows; one with a sign advertising John Dus' saloon and tavern. A wood and shingled awning covers the boardwalk in front of the building. The attached white, wood-sided building with 6 smaller windows and double entry doors features a painted sign above the door advertising the "Brainard Opera House". There are several men and young boys on the boardwalk in front of the tavern, along with several trees and a boardwalk crossing the unpaved street.
