Historical Notes
Frank Kaifer was born in Albrechtice, Czechoslovakia. He attended school in Vienna, Austria, studying masonry. In 1904 he immigrated to the United States, settling in the Brainard, Nebraska, area. He married Mary Kolar in 1920. Mary was born in 1888 on a farm in Saunders County and moved to a farm east of Dwight with her parents in 1902. Frank and Mary lived in Dwight where Frank farmed and worked as a brick-layer. Mary also worked and was a well-known seamstress, designing patterns and creating fashions, sewing and altering. They raised three daughters. They retired and moved to David City in 1946 where Frank died in 1953. Mary died in 1981.
