The Livestock Exchange Building was constructed in 1885 to house the growing livestock business. The structure was designed by the firm of Mendelssohn & Fisher and built by J.E. Riley. The Livestock Exchange housed 40 offices and 25 exchange firms. A 70 room hotel was located within the Exchange to accommodate overnight businessmen.
