Historical Notes
The parish was originally established in Savannah township in 1869, in the first established settlement and county seat incorporated in Butler County in 1868. When the county seat was moved to the current site of David City in 1878, the parish moved as well. The church was built in 1879 and enlarged in 1904. Fire damaged the church in 1916 but it was rebuilt. It merged with the First Christian Church and is now known as the First Congregational-Christian Church and remains an active parish.
