Historical Notes
Rhoda Maud Perkins was born August 17, 1862, in Lovilla, Iowa to Elisha & Sarah Perkins. She was living with her parents in rural Butler County by 1870, where her father farmed. She taught school and worked in the post office before marrying William J. Blair, March 16, 1884, in David City, Nebraska. They lived on a farm near Edholm, Nebraska, in 1887 and later moved to Linwood, Nebraska. William was engaged in the grain business, then appointed postmaster of Linwood in 1898. They had one son, Robert Roy Blair (born 12-15-1884; died 2-24-1936). According to 1920 census information Maud was widowed and living with her mother, Sarah Perkins, in David City. She died June 5, 1940, and is buried in the Linwood Cemetery.
