She is wearing a dark velvet, long-sleeve dress with high stand collar and brooch, bodice insert with large cut-lace appliques, large metal and rhinestone buttons down the bodice placket and two rows of wide horizontal. The large square collar features cut-lace appliques and is outlined with fur. She is wearing a large, round medallion on a chain about her neck and her hair is swept up into a bun on top of her head.

Historical Notes
Jessie was born in Illinois to Daniel & Martha McLoud in March 1868. At the time of this photo, she was married to George Colton and was living with him in David City, Nebraska, along with her two sons, Francis b. ca. 1890 and Etheridge b. ca. 1892 and her mother. By 1910, the family had moved to Los Angeles, California.
