Historical Notes
Sister Mary Irma Schlangal, N.D., was born October 25, 1901, in Bohemia. She came to America with her parents in 1906. She was a Notre Dame sister for 60 years and spent her religious life as a cook. In Nebraska, Sister Irma worked at Holy Trinity School in Brainard from 1926-1927 and 1937-1941; and at Dwight Assumption 1936-1937. She became a U.S. citizen in 1943. She died January 7, 1984, at the age of 82.
