Historical Notes
Ralph Stryker was born December 1, 1873, in the sod home of his parents, Henry and Amanda Walker Stryker, who homesteaded west of Rising City, Nebraska. He attended Fairview School that stood on land donated by his father. Eventually four generations of the family were to attend this school and three generations of the family taught there. After graduating from Western Normal Business College in Lincoln, Nebraska, he returned to Rising City and purchased the City Meat Market. In 1901, he married Theda Mae Harris and they raised six children on the family farm near Rising City.
